I’ve been absorbed in other things, but have been missing the space I made to create with my online course A Year of Painting. So today, despite other obligations pressing in on my mental space, my daughter and I had a quiet at-home art-making day, and we did lesson two.

Oh it was heavenly!

This lesson was all about using masking fluid on watercolour paper with inks, watercolour and pen. I don’t have a masquepen, so we used masking fluid with the end of brushes, and chopsticks. It’s a little more blunt, and trickier, but I found the fun lies in the uncertain mystery and the letting go.

This is the first of two paintings that I did today.

The original and prints be available from my Etsy shop soon.
