Craft 5 personal, embodied stories in 5 days

so you can get your memoir started

even if you’re uncertain where to begin!

Free 5-Day Challenge

July 9th-13th

If you’ve been letting your fear or self-doubt hold you back from writing your memoir, the time to start is now!

Watch this short video to learn why:

Even if you don’t know how to start…

My somatic, embodied memoir-writing approach is the best way to get those personal stories onto the page.

There are 3 crucial steps that need to happen before you can experience the thrill of having written a new collection of body stories:

  1. Schedule time to write and show up for yourself

  2. Find a great writing teacher who is skilled in helping you connect with and then write from your body’s memories and experiences

  3. Acknowledge all your nerves, doubts and fears, then set them aside and write!

When writing stories from your body, the guidance you receive can make or break your writing

and sometimes yourself, if you’re working with tough memories:

Being surrounded by support and experienced training in somatic, embodied, nervous system healing is crucial.

  • It can be the difference between a cerebral story about your body, but from your brain’s perspective, versus a viscerally written, unearthed from your body experience that deeply moves your readers.
  • It can also be the difference between writing a difficult experience without getting overwhelmed or giving up.

It’s also why so many people get stuck and never move forward in their memoir-writing.

Because stories live in our bodies, but most of us are stuck in our heads!

There’s no better way to

write your body stories

than in the container of an accelerated, embodied and friendly process.

This challenge will help you move forward to write 5 remarkable, fascinating, personal body stories without overwhelming you.

    Why body stories?

Because our brains don’t hold all our experiences.

Your body offers its memories and sensations, when you intentionally connect with it.

Because remembering and discovering new stories by connecting with your body is an easier, more fluid way of writing, and gives your brain a break.

It doesn’t have to work so hard; it can lean on your body’s wisdom.

Because your stories become remarkable. Engaging.

Your stories invite people right into your experiences.

    Why write remarkable stories?

Because you want people want to read your stories.

    Right!? 😅

Because readers want stories that engage them.

Because readers want the compelling, the remarkable and the fascinating stories.

If you want to write personal stories that illuminate and move your readers (as well as offering you greater insight into your own experiences) writing from your body is the way to go.

This writing challenge is the best place to start for anyone wanting to write 5 personal stories in the next month.

During this 5-day challenge, you will…

    1. Learn exactly how to connect with your body and write.
    2. Follow a guided, step-by-step process to bring your attention into your body then draw forth personal memories and stories and write them swiftly.
    3. Understand what goes into writing stories from your body, so you can craft 5 personal, embodied stories in 5 days so you can get your memoir started, even if you’re uncertain where to begin.

“This is the best, most brilliantly facilitated writing workshop I’ve experienced.

I’ve been on a long healing journey and have only recently begun learning the connection to listening to my body in the process.

I spent hours delving into this work and absolutely loved it.

I feel like you and your training combine everything that resonates with my soul – the healing work, the grounding and body awareness, the creative process and my heart’s calling to write my story.”

Hi! I’m your teacher, Janelle Hardy.

I’m a transformational memoir-writing teacher and somatic (body) healing practitioner.

I know a thing or two about how writing and the body go together.

I’ve been writing since I was a child, and in my 20s I got very good at writing 500 word articles for coming events magazines, journals and non-profits. I was fast, but it was all coming from a very heady place.

I spent a lot of time putting words on screens. I overrode my body and was an overthinker.

That started to change 21 years ago when I sought out somatic (body) healing for chronic fatigue and social anxiety.

What I didn’t know, which changed my life and created the career I now have, was that reconnecting to my body was the key to greater creative flow.

Better writing. More interesting, sense-laden stories. Less writer’s block and creative resistance!

I’ve been on the healing path since my early 20s, and I’m trained in the skills needed to gently and effectively support myself and my students in creativity, writing and healing from a gentle, body-based, nervous-system oriented perspective.

The best thing? I may be highly trained, but you don’t have to be.

With my guidance, writing stories from your body, while becoming more at ease and connected to your body, is something anyone can do.

    Now it’s your turn!

    “Janelle is a gifted teacher

with genius instincts on juxtaposing sources and materials to spark genuine creativity. Her body focus set light to what is now an essential part of my own creative life.”

“Janelle’s writing process, with focus on embodiment, has been important healing work for me.

Her leadership is quiet and compassionate. Her writing process is gentle and healing.

She offers an abundant banquet and lets me choose what to try. She encourages me to go at my own pace, including information about resistance so that I don’t get stuck.”

     FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    Have a question?

How do I know whether this challenge is right for me?

If you want to get some stories written this month, this challenge is right for you!

If you’re curious about writing, somatics, stories and healing, this event is for you.

No experience writing or doing embodiment practices necessary. All you have to do is show up with curiosity, ready to write.

    When is this event happening?

The challenge runs from Tuesday July 9th to Saturday July 13th.

Live sessions start at 6:30am Pacific Time each day, but if you can’t come live, you’ll always be able to participate via the replays.

You’ll also be able to join our community as soon as you register, so you can join in on the fun right away!

What if I’m not able to attend the sessions live?

While I recommend that you join live to make progress alongside others and have the chance to ask questions, the replays will be posted right after the workshops, and you’ll have access to replays until the end of June, so you can catch up, take action, and get those 5 stories written this month!

How much time will I need to dedicate each day?

Each day’s live body-writing guidance session will be around 20-minutes long.

Immediately after that we’ll go into a quiet co-writing session for an hour (but you can come and go as it works for you).

Do I need to be a good writer before I start?

No, you don’t need any experience writing to take this challenge.

The cure for ‘bad’ writing is practice. So write more. Don’t let perfectionism stop you. Keep writing. As you commit to your writing, you’ll become a better storyteller. And then you’ll discover this truth.

And, if you do have experience, you’ll still find this challenge is a refreshing approach to writing, creativity, stories and the healing journey.

Are the sessions captioned or transcribed?

Yes. All sessions will have live closed captioning enabled and replays will also be captioned.

Please reach out if there’s anything we can do to ensure you’re able to enjoy this event.

Is there a community component to this challenge?

    Yes, and it’s optional.

You’ll be invited to join the pop-up community once you sign up for the challenge!

    I still have questions!

If you still have questions, I encourage you to go ahead and sign up.

Your questions will likely be answered during the event or in the community, which you’ll be able to join right away after joining.

However, if you need to ask us a question before registering, feel free to send me an email at jaha@janellehardy.com
